Queen Mary of Denmark Inspired Ruby Red Crystal Teardrop Statement Earrings

Inspired by the ruby and diamond earrings that are part of the stunning Danish ruby parure, these teardrop earrings are handcrafted from the finest cubic zirconia elements, and are super sparkly.

The Danish ruby parure can trace back its origins no less than to the coronation of Emperor Napoleon in 1804. It came to Denmark in 1869, when the future Queen Louise, a Swedish princess, received it as a wedding gift from her grandmother, because the colours of the stones where reminiscent of the red and white of the Danish flag. The parure was inherited by then Crown Prince Frederick and has been regularly used ever since by his wife, now Queen Mary of Denmark.

These replica earrings are truly stunning, yet very wearable, and would be just the ticket for a Christmas party, or would make a lovely gift for a July birthday (ruby being the birthstone for July).

Set in a rhodium-plated mount, they are just under 4 cm (1.5 in) long, and measure approx. 1.3 cm (0.5 in) at the widest point.
